Three people were seriously injured just after midnight Saturday in a single-vehicle crash outside Pembroke, Ont., provincial police say.
Police, fire and paramedics all responded around 12:30 a.m. to reports that a car had crashed into a rock cut on White Water Road near Highway 17, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Seven people between the ages of 16 and 21 were inside the car, OPP said in a media release.
Two of the seriously injured passengers were flown to a regional trauma centre by helicopter, police said. The driver and the third person who was seriously hurt were also taken to hospital.
OPP said they later charged the driver, a 19-year-old from Pembroke, with five offences, including operating a vehicle while impaired and driving while under suspension.
The investigation is ongoing. Police asked anyone with information about the crash or video footage to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
