Ten people have been confirmed dead in a shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
One of the two gunmen believed to have opened fire at the popular tourist hotspot is among those dead, New South Wales Police said in a statement.
More than a dozen people have been taken to hospital after the Sunday night incident, ABC is reporting.

Police say the other suspect in the shootings is in a critical condition.
Police and ambulance staff flooded the areas as crowds of beachgoers fled for their lives.
Dramatic video footage appears to show a heroic man wrestling a weapon from one of the gunmen as the other black-clad shooter continues to fire on the crowd.

Earlier there were multiple shots fired at Bondi Beach with a major police emergency unfolding, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Police cars flooded the area as beachgoers fled for their lives as the sound of gunshots peppered the air.
In a video shared online, two gunmen dressed in black were seen firing multiple loud shots indiscriminately towards the beach while screams could be heard in the background.

Other footage taken from a distance shows scores of people running along the beach away from the direction of the gunfire.
A helicopter can be seen headed to the famous beach.
Some footage shows people coming to the aid of those injured on the shore.
Further footage has emerged on social media showing police officers tending to many wounded people. Some officers are seen giving CPR.
People in Bondi have reported hearing up to 50 gunshots and people on the ground in the vicinity of Campbell Parade.
New South Wales Police are urging the public to avoid the area.

A New Zealand citizen in Sydney told the Herald he heard what initially sounded like fireworks.
“But it sounded too slow to be fireworks,” he said. “We ran into a store and have been hiding here with the shutters down.”
ABC Australia reporter Sean Tarek Goodwin said paramedics and civilians were attending to a large number of people at North Bondi.
“We’ve got police helicopters circling above us and police boats were in the bay at Bondi,” he said.
“We can see a number of stretchers and people being loaded into ambulances.
“There were a number of people going about their day in Bondi now in a frantic scene.

“There are emotional scenes – people are hugging each other.”
NSW Premier Chris Minns told ABC Australia the reports and images coming out of Bondi this evening are deeply distressing.
“Police and emergency services are responding and people should follow official advice.”
New South Wales opposition leader Kellie Sloane told Sky News there is a lot of panic and confusion.
“I’m looking at a scene where ambulances and paramedics are still working on people. People have died today. People are very seriously injured. People are walking away, they’re trying to find their children.”
