JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa — I-80 closed in eastern Iowa due to severe weather and crashes

Interstate 80 is closed in both directions across a large stretch of eastern Iowa due to hazardous travel conditions.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, I-80 is shut down between Coral Ridge Avenue in Coralville (Exit 240) and Plainview Road near Davenport (Exit 284). The closure is due to impassable road conditions caused by severe winter weather and multiple crashes.

The Iowa DOT urges drivers to avoid the area and check for updates before traveling. Road conditions and closure updates are available through the state’s 511 travel information system at 511ia.org.

Motorists are encouraged to delay travel if possible and monitor conditions as crews continue working to address weather-related issues along the interstate.
