Chileans are voting in Sunday’s presidential runoff that’s expected to usher in a new era of hard-right politics in one of Latin America’s most prosperous nations.

Voters will choose between ultra-conservative José Antonio Kast — who has commanded a broad lead in recent polls — or his leftist competitor Jeannette Jara, from the Communist Party. Polls opened at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. local time, with results expected just over one hour later.
