The Melbourne Renegades have named a 14-player squad for their opening match of BBL|15, with five players in line to make their club debut in Monday’s showdown with the Heat at Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium.
Off-season recruits Jason Behrendorff, Muhammad Rizwan and Caleb Jewell are all named in a Renegades squad for the first time, alongside recently signed pair Andrew Tye and Matthew Spoors.
Captain Will Sutherland will lead a strong core of returning players, with explosive batters Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Brown and Tim Seifert set to play key roles at the top of the order alongside Rizwan.
Young guns Ollie Peake and Harry Dixon add further firepower, entering the season as familiar faces to Renegades fans after making strong impressions across recent campaigns.
All-round depth comes through Hassan Khan and Spoors, providing flexibility with both bat and ball, while the bowling attack is bolstered by significant experience, with Behrendorff and Tye forming a versatile pace group alongside Gurinder Sandhu and Fergus O’Neill.
Two notable omissions from the opening squad include Adam Zampa who is unavailable for personal reasons and Tom Rogers who continues to make steady progress in his recovery from a shoulder injury.
The Final XI will be confirmed at the toss.
