Two men have died after they were found in a southeast Edmonton neighbourhood early Friday morning suffering from what police say they believe were gunshot wounds.
In a news release issued Friday afternoon, police said officers were called to a residential area around 32nd Street and 26th Avenue at 1:43 a.m. after someone reported hearing gunshots.
Police said when officers arrived, they found two injured men believed to be in their 20s. They said officers did what they could to try to save the men’s lives until paramedics arrived and took over lifesaving efforts. However, the two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the deaths are deemed suspicious and homicide detectives are now investigating. Autopsies have been scheduled for next week.
Police did not say if the men were found in a residence or outside.
Police cordoned off the block and CBC News observed the investigative team working out of a garage in a house on the street on Friday night.
“[We] are looking for a dark-coloured SUV that may have been in the area at the time of the shooting,” police said.
“Investigators are asking anyone in the area of Silverberry Road and 23rd Avenue, as well as 34th Street and 29th Street, who may have dash camera or security footage from approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11 to 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 12, 2025, to contact police immediately.”
Police said investigators believe the shooting was “targeted” but did not elaborate further.
