The evacuation area includes locations south of South 277th Street, east of State Route 167, west of the Green River and north of 42nd Street Northeast.

AUBURN, Wash. — The City of Auburn has issued a Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation notice for residents and businesses in parts of the city due to severe and rapidly worsening flooding.

According to the City of Auburn, the evacuation area includes locations south of South 277th Street, east of State Route 167, west of the Green River and north of 42nd Street Northeast. The order covers the Trail Run community, Copper Gate Apartments and surrounding neighborhoods.

On Saturday, residents near Pike Street NE and Pike Place NE along the Green River were also ordered to evacuate.

City officials say conditions are dangerous and access routes are being lost. Residents are instructed to leave immediately if it is safe to do so. The city warns people not to evacuate north and instead travel south using normal routes. Those in the Trail Run community are advised to go east on South 277th Street toward Lea Hill and then north.

The City of Auburn says evacuees should take only essential items, including medications, important documents, pets, a phone and a charger. Vehicles should be moved to higher ground only if it can be done safely. Officials emphasize not to drive or walk through floodwaters and not to go around barricades or closures.

Floodwaters are spreading and not draining, pushing deeper into roadways and neighborhoods, according to the city. Routes to the north are no longer reliable and may already be impassable, including Auburn Way North, B Street Northwest, I Street Northeast and State Route 167. The city warns that additional north-south routes could flood or close with little notice, making travel options extremely limited.

The City of Auburn says shelter is available at the Auburn Community and Event Center at 910 9th Street Southeast and at Ray of Hope, located at 2806 Auburn Way North. Residents are urged to share the evacuation information with neighbors and others in the affected area.
