A 44-year-old man has admitted to killing a Perth lawyer whose body was found in a hotel room in the upmarket Crown Towers complex.

Alice McShera, 34, had suffered head injuries that police believe were caused by a blunt instrument before her body was discovered on October 30, 2023.

Security staff had been asked to check the room after concerns were raised by a family member, police said at the time.

Cameron John Pearson was found in the same room with serious self-inflicted injuries.

Ms McShera was a family law specialist who worked out of Murray Chambers in Perth’s CBD, and her colleagues described her as a “much-loved colleague and friend”.

Pearson was charged with one count of murder and today pleaded guilty in the WA Supreme Court.

The public gallery was packed for the hearing as he was remanded in custody.

Defence lawyer Simon Buchen SC said a psychiatric report was expected ahead of his client’s sentencing.

Pearson is set to be sentenced on March 17 next year.
