A 16-year-old girl has been left with “life-threatening” injuries after being hit by a car in Leeds.

The teenager was struck by a white Ford Fiesta being driven on Barwick Road, close to the Seacroft roundabout, on Saturday, West Yorkshire Police said.

The force said she was taken to hospital with injuries “believed to be life-threatening at this time”.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink and drug-driving offences, theft of a motor vehicle and causing serious injury, a spokesperson added.
