Skagit County saw tens of thousands of evacuations last week amid flooding.
SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — As heavy rains return, a flood watch is now in effect for Skagit County and numerous other areas of the region Monday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the Flood Watch early Monday morning, which covers portions of 12 counties and major cities like Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia.

The Skagit River was at about 36 feet Tuesday, roughly 2 feet below its peak of just under 38 feet Friday, but officials said levels are expected to rise again. The river flooded roads and neighborhoods last week, setting records and prompting activation of the National Guard. At least nine people were rescued over two days in the county.
In Mount Vernon and Concrete, a Flood Warning is still in effect for the Skagit River.Â
The NWS says a series of weather systems will bring an estimated 2 to 6 inches of rain to western Washington through Wednesday. Officials say urban and small stream flooding is possible for areas with poor drainage, and saturated soils are at increased risk for landslides and debris flows.
KING 5 has activated First Alert for this weather event, which could affect lives, property or travel in the Pacific Northwest region. During this event, the First Alert Weather Team will bring you the latest information to keep you and your family safe.
