Musician Iain Gordon Macfarlane died at a property in Strathspey Place
The family of a musician who died following an incident in Inverness have said they are “devastated” by their loss.
Police were called to a property on Strathspey Place at about 08:30 on Thursday 4 December.
Iain MacFarlane, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene. Last week, a 52-year-old man appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court charged with murder and made no plea.
Mr MacFarlane’s family thanked the community for their support in a statement issued through Police Scotland.
They said: “We are devastated by the death of Iain. We would like to thank the community for their support and kind tributes to him.
“It has brought us comfort at this difficult time. We ask for privacy as we continue to come to terms with what has happened.”
Police urged anyone with further information about the incident to contact them.
Det Insp Caroline MacKay said: “Our thoughts remain with Iain’s family and friends.
“We have specially trained officers supporting them at what is a very difficult time.
“I’d like to thank the local community for the support and patience shown while inquiries were conducted in and around the area.”
