Two alleged drug dealers are in custody after police found more than $250,000 worth of drugs in a southeast Calgary home.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) says the pair were arrested on Dec. 3 following an investigation that began just weeks before.

It all started when the Erin Woods home came under suspicion for drug trafficking, police say.

“Drug trafficking threatens our community’s sense of safety. In this instance police were able to act on criminal intelligence in a timely manner to put a stop to this drug activity,” said Staff Sgt Hayley Marquis with ALERT.

Officers found cocaine, a suspected cocaine buffing agent, methamphetamine, MDMA, LSD, illegal cigarettes, and more than $12,000 cash.

Leo-Ray Mariano, 32, and 26-year-old Jade Allen-Villacrusis have both been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking in illegal cigarettes, possession of the proceeds of crime, and fraud.

The pair are set to appear in court on Wednesday.
