Nicky Lewis, who was in The Tuppenny in Swindon, said she would not walk home alone after 21:00.
She said: “It can be intimidating, especially when you walk past males if they’ve got their hoods up or if they’re in a group.
“A greater police presence around would probably make you feel a lot safer.”
Harry Timbrell, who was also drinking in the pub, said: “Growing up and going to the football a lot, having a bigger police presence was massive.”
Back at the Steam Railway Co pub, Mr Griffiths said he had trained his staff in the Ask for Angela and Ask for Clive initiatives.
He added: “If someone comes up to the bar and asks for Angela, we take them to a safe environment and can ring a relative or cab to get them away from the situation to make sure they are okay.”
