Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say an 18-year-old man from Mississippi Mills, Ont., was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash west of Ottawa late Monday night.

The vehicle’s 17-year-old driver is facing three impaired driving charges, police said Tuesday morning.

The crash happened just before midnight Monday on 8th Concession South Pakenham near Cedar Hill Side Road in Mississippi Mills, according to police.

OPP said the driver and one passenger got out of the crashed car, but another passenger was trapped and had to be freed with the help of Mississippi Mills firefighters.

That man later died. Police did not release his name. The two other people had minor injuries, police said.

The accused has been charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm and impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit.

The accused, who is under 18, cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

They have been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled in Perth next month.
