Pilots to watch at the IBSF Bobsleigh World Cup in Sigulda
Women’s monobob

The women’s monobob standings tightened further following last weekend’s World Cup in Lillehammer, where Australia’s Bree Walker claimed victory with a combined time of 1:47.88, finishing 0.44 seconds clear of Austria’s Katrin Beier and 0.48 ahead of Germany’s Laura Nolte, who placed third.

Despite missing the top step in Lillehammer, 2024 monobob world champion Nolte continues to lead the overall World Cup standings with 635 points, built on a win in Cortina d’Ampezzo and podium finishes at all three events so far this season. Walker’s win in Norway moved the Australian up to second overall on 617 points, narrowing the gap at the top to just 18 points.

Team USA’s Kaysha Love, who finished 14th in Lillehammer, remains firmly in contention in fourth place overall with 547 points, having won in Innsbruck and placed second in Cortina earlier in the campaign. With three different race winners already this season and the margins at the top still slim,  Sigulda offers a chance for one of these pilots to move into clear daylight in the monobob standings — or for another new winner to add a fresh twist to an increasingly competitive season.
