Kellie Snowden from Cheshire was an Erasmus student in France and Germany between 2010 and 2011.
She now works as a teacher and says studying abroad helped her gain confidence and life skills.
“I had experiences I never would have had remaining in the UK, made so many friends, and became fluent in two other languages,” Snowden says.
“I know many of my friends who also did Erasmus ended up moving abroad permanently or meeting their partners during their Erasmus time.”
She recounts experiences like watching sporting tournaments with fans from the opposing teams, climbing Europe’s largest sand dune, learning to ski in Austria, attending raves in the middle of the German countryside, and writing subtitles for a film.
Now a mother who is currently on maternity leave, Snowden adds her eldest child’s first trip aboard was to Germany to see where she lived.
“In a few years I plan on taking the new baby,” she says.
