Travel advisory for the Coquihalla

UPDATE #4, 9:30 A.M. WEDNESDAY: DriveBC now projects the estimated time of reopening for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt is 1 p.m. As a reminder, Highway 3 (Crowsnest Highway) is closed between Hope and Princeton for extensive reconstruction work. Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon remains open as of 9:30 a.m.

UPDATE #3, 5:10 A.M. WEDNESDAY: DriveBC has not posted any update on reopening as of 5:10 a.m. Wednesday morning. Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton remains closed, meaning the only real option for Fraser Valley commuters who need to get to the Interior is Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon.

UPDATE #2, 10:48 P.M. TUESDAY: DriveBC has not provided any update on reopening as of 10:48 p.m. Tuesday night, meaning the Coq likely remains closed in both directions due to an unspecified vehicle incident. People continue to report on social media that people have been stuck in the traffic for hours and are not able to turn around to avert the traffic situation.

UPDATE, 8:12 P.M. TUESDAY: DriveBC now says that both directions of the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt are closed due to a vehicle incident. An assessment is in progress.
