Emergency services raced to a tram stop in south Manchester on Wednesday evening after a woman and child were hit by a tram, the M.E.N understands.
Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the Metrolink stop at Didsbury Village shortly before 8pm. A woman and a boy, in his teens, were involved in the incident.
Trams were halted between St Werburgh’s Road and East Didsbury in both directions following the collision. The teenage boy is said to have sustained minor injuries, and the woman is in hospital with back injuries.
Pictures showed emergency services personnel working at the scene, as all passengers on board also had to evacuate the tram. Transport for Greater Manchester have also been contacted for a statement.
Police cars, multiple ambulances and incident response units were seen lining nearby Olive Shapley Avenue amid the major response.
“Due to a road traffic collision at Didsbury Village, there is currently no tram service between West Didsbury and East Didsbury,” a live update from the Bee Network read.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to the scene at around 7.40pm and that the adult woman had been treated by paramedics at the scene before going to hospital.
