State Highway 29 traffic alert as car bursts into flames on roadside

Flames engulfed a car on State Highway 29.

A video sent to NZME shows flames and smoke billowing from the front of the vehicle, which had pulled over on the side of the road.

The fire was reported to be near the Kaimai Summit.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern
fire communications shift manager Josh Pennefather said the car was on fire along State Highway 29, in the Lower Kaimai.

“We put it out, and now we’re just waiting for a tow truck.”
