Five people will face criminal charges over alleged corruption following an “extensive” Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigation into medical devices at public hospitals.

It will be alleged the public officers accepted secret payments from sales representatives in return for the use of the devices, and failed to declare conflicts of interest to Queensland Health.

In a statement on Thursday, the CCC said it had conducted Investigation Barzona in cooperation with the Queensland Office of the Health Ombudsman (OHO).

The CCC said four people had been charged with a range of offences, including fraud, official corruption, and misconduct in relation to their dealings within Queensland Health.

Three will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 15 and one will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 28.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a fifth person, the CCC said.
