Michael Race
Business and economics reporter, at the Bank of England

Good morning from a rainy central London. I’m at the Bank of England, where the latest decision on interest rates will be announced.

Earlier, along with other journalists, I was taken down into the depths of this 300-year-old historic building and locked in a room to hear the latest interest rate.

I’ve been here a few times and I’m told the nation’s gold is also kept in a vault underneath my feet – but, unsurprisingly, I’ve not had a chance to see it.

In the room, we get a chance to write our copy and ask some questions before sharing the news at 12:00.

There’s usually some biscuits on offer – maybe even a festive mince pie this time.

See you on the other side.
