The new brochures feature a striking adapted cover from an original 1950’s visitor guide, with further historic covers from different decades showcased on the back, reflecting the city’s rich heritage. Inside, the wide range of Portsmouth’s tourism offer is promoted, encouraging visits to the city throughout the year.
From January, an additional brochure ‘100 things to see and do in Portsmouth’ will be released as part of the Portsmouth100 events, highlighting the very best of the city for residents and visitors alike. The brochures will be available in print and online, with mini guides produced in English, French, German, Spanish and Dutch to reach international audiences.
Tourism plays a vital role in Portsmouth’s economy, supporting around 12,500 local jobs and contributing more than £700 million annually. Looking ahead, the Visit Portsmouth team will continue to promote the city internationally, with activity planned at major tourism shows in the Netherlands, London, Berlin and across the UK.
Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, said: “Portsmouth100 is an incredible opportunity to celebrate our city’s heritage and future. The new brochures showcase the very best of Portsmouth and invite visitors from near and far to discover what make our city truly special. I would also like to thank our tourism partners across the city, whose support and collaboration make these achievements possible.”
