Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil out for Commanders

The Eagles will be without All-Pro offensive tackle Lane Johnson, so it only makes sense that the Commanders will not have their best offensive lineman in left tackle Laremy Tunsil.

Tunsil suffered an oblique injury last Sunday against the Giants. Tunsil tried to practice earlier in the week, but Head Coach Dan Quinn said, “He’s just not there yet. We’ll hopefully get him back for the final game, but not for this one.”

The Commanders announced at the beginning of the week that quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play in Washington’s three remaining games due to a left elbow injury. The Commanders did not put Daniels on Injured Reserve, so the second-year quarterback can remain a limited participant in practice. Quarterback Marcus Mariota will start on Saturday for the Commanders.

The Commanders’ defensive line depth takes a hit as defensive tackle Eddie Goldman is out due to a concussion that kept him from practicing all week. On Thursday, defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton was added to the injury report with an illness. Newton is questionable for Saturday. Both Goldman and Newton play roughly a third of the Commanders’ defensive snaps.

Cornerback Jonathan Jones, who has started four games this season, is questionable with a rib injury and did not practice on Thursday. If Jones is unable to go, Antonio Hamilton will start alongside Noah Igbinoghene and Mike Sainristil.
