A pensioner has tragically died after being hit by a van on an Asda car park in Oldham. Emergency services attended the supermarket on Greenfield Lane, in Shaw, at around 6.50pm yesterday (December 18).
Greater Manchester Police says the driver of a Peugeot Expert was making their way to the exit when they struck a woman who was returning to her own vehicle. The 78-year-old suffered significant injuries in the collision and has since sadly died.
Multiple police vehicles and ambulances were seen on the car park on Thursday night, with a large section taped off. Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) have launched an investigation.
They are asking anyone with information about what happened to come forward. This includes anyone who witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage of it.
Details can be passed on to SCIU directly on 0161 856 4741, or by contacting GMP on Live Chat at gmp.police.uk, quoting log 2900 of December 18, 2025. Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
