A woman in her 40s has died following a collision in northeast Calgary yesterday.
At about 6:05 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, a 2016 Honda Pilot, driven by a woman in her 50s, was travelling westbound on 26 Avenue N.E., approaching 32 Street N.E.
At the same time, a pedestrian was standing at the northeast corner of the intersection, intending to cross west along 32 Street N.E.
The traffic signal for westbound 26 Avenue N.E. turned green, and the walk signal activated for the pedestrian. The Honda began to turn north onto 32 Street N.E. while the pedestrian stepped into the crosswalk, and the car struck the woman.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition and later died. The driver was not injured and remained at the scene.
Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors at this time. Our Traffic Unit continues to investigate.
This is the 38th fatal collision in Calgary in 2025, and the 15th involving a pedestrian. We continue to work with The City of Calgary to implement the Safer Mobility Plan with a common goal of Vision Zero – mobility free of fatalities and major injuries.
