The publicly-owned utility said it responded to bottled water requests throughout Friday and would continue to do so with a focus on customers on its Priority Services Register.

Scottish Water also confirmed it was organising multiple tankers to boost supplies.

A spokesperson said: “Work has continued round the clock to respond to this challenging burst.

“We apologise to customers currently with low pressure or no water, thank them for their patience and want to reassure them we are working to restore normal supplies to them as soon as we can.”

They added a temporary overland pipe would be used to get water back into the network while the permanent water main was isolated and repaired.

Updates on the repairs are available via a dedicated web page, external.
