MONTCLAIR, New Jersey (WABC) — There was a scare for commuters in New Jersey when two trains on the Montclair Boonton Line collided and derailed.
The two NJ Transit trains came into contact with each other just before 7 p.m. Friday in Montclair, causing what officials are calling a ‘minor derailment.’
17 people were injured, but officials are calling the injuries minor and non-life threatening.
The trains came in contact with each other on a dark stretch of track along the Montclair Boonton line.
Investigators remained on the scene throughout the night and the NTSB joined the investigation.
Montclair Boonton Line rail service has resumed in both directions early Saturday.
