Jake Paul is set to face a two-month boxing ban following his knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua. The ‘Problem Child’ managed to survive until the sixth round in the controversial clash.

Paul, aged 28, will serve a mandatory 60-day suspension imposed by the Florida Athletic Commission following his knockout loss. The prohibition could be lengthened if the knockout is deemed sufficiently serious.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer isn’t planning a swift return to the ring within that period. Paul confessed he’ll take time to weigh up his options, though he remains focused on championship glory despite being thoroughly outclassed by Joshua.

After the bout, the relatively inexperienced fighter disclosed that his jaw had been broken by his opponent.

“I’ve already won in every single way in life, my family, my jaw is broken by the way, it’s definitely broke, nice little a** whooping from one of the best to ever do it.”, reports the Mirror.

“Honestly, I’m not surprised, I just got tired, so much handling his weight. I think with better cardio, I could’ve kept fighting.

“I did my personal best. Oh, for sure, we’ll heal the broken jaw, go back, fight people my own weight and go for the cruiserweight world title.

“I’m going to take a little break. I’ve been going hard for six years.”

Prior to the fight, Joshua reinforced his intention to ‘kill’ Paul. “It’s my job, we fight. We have a licence to kill,” he said.

“I’m sure many people don’t understand it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. Whatever happens, happens – as long as my hand is raised, that’s what’s important, respectfully.

“That’s just what the mentality we have to have as fighters. I don’t know if other fighters think that way. Maybe they’re a bit more tame.

“The way my mind works. When you’re in the ring, it’s a dangerous thing. Anything can happen. You hope your opponent leaves the ring safely, but if they don’t, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It wasn’t personal.”

Whilst Joshua floored his rival on multiple occasions, the bout went on longer than many had expected. The former Olympian was forced to admit it wasn’t his finest hour in the squared circle.

“It wasn’t the best performance,” Joshua acknowledged after his victory. “The goal was to get Jake Paul out and hurt him.

“Jake Paul has done really well tonight. I want to give him his props, he got up, time and time again. I just took my time and I got the job done. I refuse to get hurt, I refuse to acknowledge getting hurt. There is no hurt in me.”
