Emily and Matt have three young children and are among the parents struggling to find suitable childcare nearby.
“I’ve phoned possibly 15 providers, child minders, nannies, different settings,” Emily said.
“Most could maybe put one child up, which was my older one, but very few were able to accommodate the younger under twos.”
Matt said the loss of the nursery could have a significant impact on their lives.
“One of us would have to sacrifice our job in order to look after them more,” he said.
“So it would have had a tremendous effect on our lives, financially, and also emotionally for the kids who rely on this sort of environment to develop properly.”
