A man charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a home in Adelaide’s northern suburbs on Sunday night will remain in custody until at least April next year.

Vikrant Thakur, 42, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon but did not apply for release on bail.

Earlier, police said emergency services were called to a home at Northfield around 8:30pm on Sunday after reports of a domestic assault.

Police said they arrived to find a 36-year-old woman unconscious.

“Officers immediately commenced CPR but sadly, the woman could not be revived,” police said in a statement.

On Monday, prosecutors asked the court to adjourn the matter for 16 weeks while they await evidence, including a post-mortem report and DNA results.

Mr Thakur returns to court next year.
