CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Two people are dead after a shooting early Saturday morning in south Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Detectives said Samir Molina, 18, and Bravilo Ayala, 16, were shot along Farmhurst Drive. They traveled away from where they were shot in an attempt to find help.

Police found one of the shooting victims with life-threatening injuries around 3:30 a.m. at an Exxon gas station along East Woodlawn Road. They were taken to the hospital where they died.

Officers said they were called to the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center around 3:30 a.m. for a reported assault with a deadly weapon. The other victim was dropped off at the hospital with gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead by medical staff.

Both Molina’s and Ayala’s family members have been notified of their deaths.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department at 704-432-8477 and speak directly to a detective.
