WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former President Bill Clinton called on the Justice Department to release the remaining documents from the Epstein files, saying that how the Trump administration has handled the release of information suggests that “someone or something is being protected.”

“The Epstein Files Transparency Act imposes a clear legal duty on the U.S. Department of Justice to produce the full and complete record the public demands and deserves,” Clinton’s spokesperson Angel Ureña wrote in a statement.

“However what the Department of Justice has released so far, and the manner in which it did so, makes one thing clear: someone or something is being protected. We do not know whom, what, or why.”

“But we do know this: We need no such protection,” the statement continued.

The statement released on X by Clinton’s spokesperson Angel Ureña comes just days after the Justice Department released thousands of documents and pictures from Epstein files in compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act’s deadline However, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche shared that it would be releasing the remaining documents over the course of the following weeks, much to the dismay of Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep. Ro Khanna (R-CA), the consponsors of the bill.

In the batch released last Friday, photos of Clinton aboard Epstein’s private jet with a woman sitting on his lap and Clinton laying in a hot tub with a woman were included. The faces of the women with Clinton were redacted with a black square. Other photos show Clinton having dinner with Epstein and rock star legend Mick Jagger.

Clinton has long protested his innocence of involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring of underage girls, having cut ties with Epstein once his crimes became publicly known.

Ureña called directly on President Donald Trump for the immediate release of all materials “referring to, mentioning, or containing a photograph of Bill Clinton.” He suggested that the Justice Department’s current approach of releasing materials may do done in a way to insinuate an individual like Clinton of wrongdoing even though they’ve already been cleared by the Department of Justice.

The statement from Clinton’s spokesperson also comes as Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, have been issued subpoenas by the House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) for depositions set on January 13 and 14, focused on their relationship with the late sex offender.
