An 81-year-old woman was killed in an early morning hit-and-run crash in the Joyce-Collingwood area, according to Vancouver police.

Police said in a statement that first responders were first called out around 6:30 a.m. PT on Monday to the intersection of Rupert Street and Euclid Avenue.

There, they found an 81-year-old pedestrian who was hit by a car. She died before she was transported to hospital.

Police say the driver of a dark grey Volkswagen Golf did not stop after the crash, and was last seen going north on Rupert Street.

The VPD says the car was manufactured in the late 1990s or early 2000s, and is missing a driver– side mirror as a result of the crash.

Police also say the car could have damage on the driver–side front bumper, headlight and front fender due to the crash.

Anyone with more information on the crash, including dashcam footage near Rupert Street between Kingsway and 29th Avenue, is asked to call police.
