NEA delegation visit to Kindai University Reactor
During the visit to Kindai University, the NEA delegation led by the Director-General also had an opportunity to tour the Kindai University Teaching and Research Reactor (UTR-KINKI), the first university-based privately operated reactor in Japan. Providing facilities for reactor physics experiments, radiation measurement training and reactor operation practice, UTR-KINKI has been a central part of nuclear education programmes at Kindai University since 1961.
The visit also included engagement with the academic community. More than 100 Kindai University students and staff, as well as young professionals attended a lecture by Director-General Magwood on the most pressing challenges and opportunities in the nuclear energy sector.
