A Killarney man, who was charged with the possession of an realistic imitation firearm, after his arrest on Park Road in Killarney at the weekend told gardaí: “It was a joke man, its funny.”

Kenneth Fitzpatrick (45) of Apartment 6, Beech Avenue, Cronin’s Wood, Killarney, came before Tralee District Court this week on three charges.

The court heard he arrested on Sunday, December 21, and was subsequently charged on Monday, December 22 with three charges including one charge under the Firearms and Offensive Weapon Act and two public order offences.

The court heard the State were not objecting to bail subject to certain conditions which had agreed by Mr Fitzpatrick’s solicitor Padraig O’Connell.

These include that he provide his mobile phone number and address to gardaí and sign on once a week on Friday’s at Killarney Garda Station.

The case will come before the court again on January 6 for DPP directions.
