Port Adelaide is set to unveil its sixth debutant of the season, with exciting tall forward Jack Whitlock named to face Geelong on Sunday afternoon.
The 200cm Murray Bushrangers product has put in several eye-catching performances in the SANFL over recent weeks, playing both forward and in the ruck, to earn his elevation to the senior side.
He joins Joe Berry, Christian Moraes, Tom Cochrane, Hugh Jackson and Mani Liddy in making their AFL debuts in 2025. Meanwhile, Jack Lukosius, Joe Richards and Rory Atkins have also pulled on the Port Adelaide guernsey for the first time this season to make their club debuts.
Mid-season draftee Liddy returns to the side alongside midfielder Will Lorenz, with Lukosius (calf), Miles Bergman (shoulder) and Logan Evans (illness) forced out of the side travelling to GMHBA Stadium.
The trio of inclusions – Liddy, Lorenz and Whitlock – have been named on the interchange alongside Hugh Jackson and Jackson Mead, with the sub to be named from that quintet an hour prior to first bounce.
The retiring Rory Atkins, ruckman Ivan Soldo and defender Dylan Williams have been named as emergencies.
As Whitlock prepares for his first AFL game, Travis Boak is on the verge of celebrating yet another slew of career milestones, moving into outright seventh place on the VFL/AFL games played list with his 384th match, while Boak and Darcy Byrne-Jones will also mark their 200th game as teammates. Finally, the evergreen midfielder needs just 11 disposals to leapfrog Gary Ablett Jr. into fifth on the V/AFL’s list of highest possession winners of all-time.
Sunday’s game will begin at 2:45pm Adelaide time, and the match will be broadcast live on Channel 7, Fox Footy and Kayo.
