COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Department of Justice released another batch of documents on Tuesday related to the federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and mentioning potential co-conspirators.
The release includes more than 30,000 files, some of which reference internal FBI communications following Epstein’s arrest in July 2019.
Among the documents is a previously unreleased email sent from someone at the FBI’s New York office. The message asks about the status of what it refers to as “10 co-conspirators.” The response to that inquiry is heavily redacted, offering little clarification.
What remains visible in the reply reads, quote, “I do not know about Ohio contacting Wexner.” No additional context is provided in the email exchange.
The correspondence was sent just days after Epstein’s arrest.
Les Wexner was a longtime associate of Epstein before cutting ties with him in 2007, following Epstein’s earlier indictment in Florida.
According to Mr. Wexner’s legal representative, the Assistant U.S. Attorney overseeing the Epstein investigation stated at the time that Mr. Wexner was neither a co-conspirator nor a target in any respect. The statement says Mr. Wexner cooperated fully with investigators by providing background information on Epstein and was not contacted again.
The newly released files are part of an ongoing effort by the Justice Department to make records from the Epstein investigation public, though many documents remain partially redacted.
