Driving conditions in many areas have deteriorated significantly with over 10 cm of fresh, fluffy snow on the ground.
It began snowing overnight and continues this morning.
The northern half of the Avalon Peninsula, including metro, will get 20-25 cm, the same as Gander and Clarenville. Grand Falls-Windsor, the Burin Peninsula and the southern Avalon are in for 10-15.

Many roads have yet to be touched by a snowplow, so people should weigh their options before venturing out.
Metrobus is not operating today.
St. Teresa’s Parish Mundy Pond has cancelled the 11:00 mass as has the Divine Mercy Parish on Newfoundland Drive.

Roughly half the island is hearing it from Mother Nature today with the Avalon Peninsula, Burin Peninsula, east coast and parts of central Newfoundland taking a beating.
It began snowing overnight on the south coast and the Avalon but it quickly spread to Clarenville and Gander. Most areas are in for 15-25 cm but Grand Falls-Windsor and the Marystown area will emerge with 10-15 cm of new snow.

Visibility is compromised in many areas with blowing snow and road conditions are tricky.
The snow will change to rain on the Avalon this afternoon, so that will reduce the amount of blowing snow.

The west and southwest coasts as well as the Northern Peninsula and parts of the northeast coast will get only a few cm of snow. Labrador sits this one out entirely.
Environment Canada is keeping an eye on another wintry system expected to impact eastern and central Newfoundland late Boxing Day.
