An e-scooter driver has died following a road traffic collision in in Waterford city.

The collision, involving the e-scooter and a car, took place at the junction of Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road at around 11am.

The driver of the e-scooter, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 80s, was also brought to University Hospital Waterford with injuries believed to be non life-threatening.

Gardaí have said that no other injuries were reported.

The road currently remains closed to allow forensic collision investigators to carry out a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

They particularly want to speak to any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling on Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road between 10.45am and 11.15am this morning.
