Northeast Ohio faces hazardous travel as a Winter Weather Advisory warns of freezing rain on Friday.

CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for multiple counties in Northeast Ohio due to forecasted freezing rain. 

The advisory will be in effect on Friday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. for the following counties: 

Carroll County Columbiana County Erie County Geauga CountyMahoning County Ottawa County Portage County Sandusky County Trumbull County 

According to the NWS, total accumulations will be from “a light glaze up to one tenth of an inch.” 

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Difficult travel conditions are possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning commute,” said the National Weather Service. 

NWS is advising drivers to “be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury. “

According to 3News’ weather team, they are keeping a close eye on Friday.

“Precipitation returns, and temperatures will start out near freezing. Most of us should see rain for the day. But a few spots may have to deal with some freezing rain.”
