M4 lane remains closed after multi-vehicle crash leads to fire

A lane remains closed on a motorway following a multi-vehicle crash, which then led to a fire.

Emergency services were called to the crash and the single-vehicle fire on the M4 eastbound, between J17 (Chippenham) and J16 (Swindon West) in Wiltshire at about 14:15 GMT on Saturday.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix said one lane remains closed due to the damage, with repairs scheduled to take place on Sunday evening.

Motorists experienced delays of up to two hours, with about eight miles (12.8km) of queuing traffic.
