CN Rail crews were clearing tracks early Sunday morning after nine train cars derailed near Jubilee Station in Winnipeg. 

Early reports suggest nine train cars were derailed around 3 a.m. on Sunday, a CN spokesperson told CBC News, with eight cars flipped over on their side and one upright. 

The spokesperson said no dangerous goods, fires or leaks were reported. No one was injured, the spokesperson said, and there is no threat to public safety. 

The cause of the derailment is being investigated, CN said. 

Crews and emergency responders were still attending the scene just before noon on Sunday, according to the spokesperson.

The railway company said it “would like to apologize for the inconveniences caused by this incident.”

CN said there is no impact to passenger rail services at this time.

David Neufeld, who lives in a condo building near the station, told CBC News he was awoken by the sound of a crash early Sunday morning. 

“Our building actually vibrated, like shook,” Neufeld said. 

“I’d never heard or felt something quite as violent,” he said. 

Neufeld said he can usually hear the nearby trainyard from his home in the Lord Roberts neighborhood, but it’s never been that loud before. It’s the first time he’s felt vibrations from something on the tracks, he said.
