MV Leif Ericson (Marine Atlantic)
Marine Atlantic says the lease and introduction of a new vessel to their fleet is the “big ticket item” they’ll be working on heading into 2026.
Last summer, the organization issued an RFP looking to lease a vessel to replace the Leif Ericson, which is more than three decades old.
The hope, according to CEO Murray Hupman, is to have the new ship ready to go for next summer.
Hupman says that is part of their fleet strategy, so getting the new ship in place and increasing capacity for passengers is their main goal at the moment.
