A popular option is honey chicken and waffles; cheddar-infused waffle, crispy chicken tenders tossed in hot honey, topped with garlic-parm drizzle and green onions

One of North Bay’s newest restaurants opened in June and is already creating a reputation for serving up flavourful, fresh food.

Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House has a full menu of breakfast and lunch options, including pancakes, waffles, crepes, burgers, wraps and more.

There are also gluten-free options.

“We have almost 225 different menu items. You see lots of flavours of pancakes, waffles and French toast. You can’t find that big a selection of pancake flavours anywhere else,” chuckled Amit Patel, general manager of Stacked North Bay.

If omelettes, eggs benedict or even crepes are more your liking, they have that too.

“Whatever we’re making here is freshly made every day. Strawberry jam, we are making fresh here, that’s why people love the strawberry jam. We are selling them in jars and bottles, too. So instead of getting it from the grocery store, you can get freshly made strawberry jam here.”

The strawberries are locally sourced.

Still on the breakfast side, for $6.99, the weekday breakfast special consists of two eggs, the choice of bacon/ham/or sausage, homefries and toast, available Monday through Friday from 7 to 9 a.m.

If you happen to be in the mood for lunch favourites, the kitchen offers “burgers of the day” made fresh in-house.

Start the workweek off with the Jalapeno Ranch Burger on Monday, and come back for the California Burger on Tuesday. Mid-week, switch things up with the Smokeshow Burger, followed by the Loaded Mushroom Burger on Thursday, and wrap up the workweek with the BBQ Philly Burger on Friday.

“They are freshly made, and we have lots of sandwich wraps and different varieties of poutine,” Patel stated.

The restaurant just recently changed over the entire menu to offer even more selections.

“We’ve got lots of good things like chicken and waffles,” Patel noted.

It is crispy fried chicken served on a waffle, drizzled with real Canadian maple syrup, and dusted with powdered sugar. As a pro tip, they suggest cutting the waffle in half and making it into a sandwich with the chicken.

“People love that, and every month we have a special, a limited-time offer. Right now, we have a winter special until the middle of January. It is roast beef hash. We have a lot of hash variety.”

The roast beef hash dish comes with seasoned homefries with sauteed onions, carrots, celery and fresh rosemary, topped with pulled roast beef, gravy, garlic mayo, two eggs and green onion “for hearty winter comfort.”

Other varieties of hash include bacon cheeseburger, Mexican, or Canadian hash. There is also cowboy, benedict, veggie, stacked hash, hot honey chicken hash, and southwest steak hash.

Another popular option is honey chicken and waffles; cheddar-infused waffle, crispy chicken tenders tossed in hot honey, topped with garlic-parm drizzle and green onions.

For those with a sweet tooth, consider white chocolate cherry cheesecake pancakes or the marshmallow churro French toast.

If you like colour on your plate, avocado toast comes with two pieces of rye toast topped with smashed avocado, pico salsa and two poached medium eggs.

There are also options for those looking for a healthier start, including two poached eggs with fresh fruit and rye toast.

Stacked is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The restaurant is located at 41 Lakeshore Drive, North Bay, near the bottom of the overpass heading into West Ferris.
