It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and well-loved friend, David Gregory Jessome, on December 29, 2025 at the age of 79.

Born in Sydney Mines on September 23, 1946, David was the son of the late Peter and Marguerite (Kavanagh) Jessome. In his younger years, David worked with his father in the Franklin Mine and later in Broughton. He then trained as an autobody mechanic with Earl Jessome in Florence. He would go on to work for Albert Finney in Sydney Mines and Bob Barrington in Blackets Lake. In 1972 he went out on his own, building his own shop – Dave Jessome’s Autobody on Colonel St. in Bras d’Or. He was immensely proud of his shop and became well known for giving the best paint jobs around. He also had the great pleasure of teaching students from T.L. Sullivan Jr. High School how to become an autobody mechanic. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisher. He had a great sense of humour and a strong affinity for scratch tickets. He spent many cherished summer seasons at the St. Ann’s Campground where he made life -long friendships.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Paula (Morrison); his sons – Gary “Duke” and Bradley (April); step-grandchildren Nicky, Kameron (Jeremy), Vinnie (Jaz) and their children Elie and Maddie; siblings – John (Maureen), Ken (Frances), James (Mary), Donald (Becky), Danny (Bev), Elaine (Don Dolimar) and Cathy (Graham) Webb. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews with whom David shared a very special and close relationship.

Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his brother Lionel; his mother and father-in-law, Howard and Katie Morrison; brother-in-law, Bill (Agnes) Morrison; sisters-in-law – Betty (Mansel) Penny and Kaye Cusson.
