The RCMP’s major crimes unit says foul play is suspected after a man was found dead near Lake Country, B.C., just north of Kelowna, on Christmas Day.
Lake Country RCMP say they responded to the 16000 block of Gatzke Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. PT on Dec. 25.
When officers arrived, they found 43-year-old Joseph Robert McCook dead, according to an RCMP news release.
Police say foul play is suspected and the RCMP’s major crimes unit has taken over the case.
RCMP would not disclose exactly where McCook was found and haven’t said what day he died.
The 16000 block of Gatzke Road runs parallel to Highway 97, which connects Kelowna and Vernon. The stretch of road is occupied by at least six homes and a gravel pit and building material company.
Police say they have released a photo of McCook in the hopes of furthering their investigation and that they’re looking for public assistance in determining what happened.
