Homes evacuated and power cut after Derby house fire

An investigation is under way after a house fire in Derby led to “a small number of properties” being evacuated.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Boyer Street at about 02:30 GMT on Wednesday.

Four appliances were sent to the scene, and properties nearby were temporarily evacuated while the fire was tackled.

Derbyshire Police said power had been cut to a number of properties “in order to ensure the safety of residents”.
