Sixty-nine new ambulances are set to take to the road across the West Midlands, the region’s ambulance service has confirmed.

The new double-crewed vehicles have been delivered as part of the government’s efforts to boost frontline services over the winter by speeding up emergency response times.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) is getting the vehicles as part of a £75m project funded by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

Health Secretary Wes Streeting said: “These new ambulances are already helping to cut response times and keep more vehicles on the road, just as the NHS is facing a tidal wave of flu and the ongoing disruption of strikes.”
