A heartbroken man said his family is in mourning after his brother and cousin were among three teens who were killed in a crash in Pompano Beach on Monday night.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. near the 1600 block of North Federal Highway when two vehicles were involved in a crash that ended with one vehicle, a BMW, slamming into a concrete pole and bus stop, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Three males – ages 15, 16, and 18 – were in the BMW and were rushed to a local hospital where they died from their injuries.

Juan Alcocer said the driver was his younger brother, 18-year-old Richard Alcocer, who had recently graduated from Blanche Ely High School in May.
He said one passenger was his 16-year-old cousin, Miguel Montez, and the other was a family friend named Ruben “Junior” Balthazar. They also attended Blanche Ely, Alcocer said.
Juan Alcocer went to the crash scene on Tuesday to see where they lost their lives. He described the teens as happy, outgoing and fun-loving.
“It’s tragic what happened to them, all of the sudden, you know?” he said.

He said the family is still waiting to learn what happened.
“Devastated, devastated. It’s terrible, going through a tough time right now, we’re trying to cope with it, it still feels unreal,” he said.
BSO officials said it appeared the white 2014 BMW M5 was going southbound on North Federal Highway and for reasons unknown, struck the center median’s raised concrete curb then lost control and struck the second vehicle, a 2024 Acura Integra.
The BMW slid sideways across the roadway before crashing into the bus stop, pole and a tree, officials said.
The driver and passengers of the Acura weren’t injured in the crash.
BSO officials said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but said the preliminary investigation showed that excessive speed by the BMW’s driver is a possible contributing factor in the crash.
“Any loss of life in a situation like this, in an incident like this is absolutely tragic,” BSO spokesman Carey Codd said. “To have three young people die in a crash like this, it absolutely breaks your heart.”
