A 31-year-old man has been arrested and faces attempted murder charges after a woman in her 30s was allegedly pushed from a three-storey balcony Thursday morning.

Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant of Montreal police said officers were called to an apartment building on Ste-Catherine Street, near Pie-IX Boulevard, in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve around 8:15 a.m. ET.

According to police, there was an altercation before the woman was pushed.

She was found unconscious on the ground and taken to hospital in critical condition.

The man was arrested at the scene.

Police are continuing their investigation.
